The UAE government has announced that all restrictions imposed as part of Covid-19 are being lifted. The exemptions will be effective from today.
The restrictions were lifted after two-and-a-half years of strict Covid-19 rules and precautionary measures. The second phase of the easing of restrictions was announced by a government spokesperson in a virtual briefing.
There are also relaxations in mask-wearing rules
Masks will be optional in all open and closed facilities, including places of worship and mosques, health officials said.
However, mask-wearing will be made mandatory in health centers for people who are determined.
Officials noted that the approval of the second phase of relaxation came after a careful study of the situation in the country by monitoring the intensive care and occupancy rates of the hospitals, which are now below 300 consecutive cases of Covid-19.
The Green Pass on the Al Hosn app is not required to enter public facilities and sites.
The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) said that the five-day isolation period for positive cases will remain in place and that Covid-19 PCR testing and health facilities will continue to function.
