UAE inflation allowances to low-income Emirati families

The UAE government has inflationary allowances to help common people who are nationals. The government distributed inflationary allowances to 47,300 low-income Emirati families to help them cope with the rising prices of food, fuel, electricity, and water.

Inflation allowances are subsidies given by the government to low-income Emirati households to cope with worldwide increases and inflation in fuel prices, basic foodstuffs, electricity, and water.

Earlier last month, the President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, directed the restructuring of the Social Support Program for low-income citizens, doubling the budget of the initiative from AED 14 billion to AED 28 billion. Officials said it was allowed.

The ministry noted that from mid-July, disbursement of fuel allowance to low-income deserving people has been allowed, and food subsidy allowance has been disbursed from August 5, followed by electricity and water allowance.

The monthly subsidy program covers 85 percent of fuel price increases above Dh2.1 per litre. The head of the family gets a subsidy of 300 liters per month while the working wife gets an additional subsidy of 200 liters.

Meanwhile, if the wife does not receive support, the head of the family will get a subsidy of 400 litres. The family presents the Emirates ID at any ADNOC fuel station in the UAE, where the outstanding bonus value can be used during the month.

Meanwhile, the Food Supplement Allowance is part of the initiative, as part of the government's commitment to providing Emirati families with the support they need to meet their living needs and provide them with a dignified life, with the government bearing 75 percent of food inflation.

The ministry confirmed that all beneficiaries of inflation allowances registered with fuel allowance are automatically registered with a food allowance and will be sent text messages confirming registration by creating an account linked to their Emirates IDs.

Families can benefit from this month's worth of allowance by visiting one of the nearly 100 Lulu Hypermarket outlets across the UAE and presenting their Emirates IDs at the time of payment.

The social welfare program provides a monthly subsidy of 50 percent for electricity consumption below 4,000 kilowatts and a monthly water subsidy of 50 percent for water consumption below 26,000 gallons.

In the coming period, beneficiaries of inflation allowances will be automatically registered to receive monthly subsidies for electricity and water usage, the ministry said.

The Ministry explained that the system for applying for social assistance and support-related inquiries is available through the Ministry's website (www.mocd.gov.ae) and Smart Application and registration is done using Digital Identity or Emirates.
