UAE Police warns motorists to drive in the leftmost lane

Several motorists prefer to drive in the leftmost lanes on UAE highways.

Police are warning against driving on this stretch at the maximum speed limit – 140kmph – throughout the journey.

Multiple traffic laws exist in the UAE that govern the use of expressways.

In Dubai, delivery riders are not allowed to use the fast lane.

The police had already launched a campaign to educate the public about the correct way to use the left lane.

Police advise that you should not use the first lane unless you are passing another vehicle. The use of this lane is allowed only for emergency vehicles and overtaking. Drivers who drive at low speeds are advised not to use the fast lane.

Motorists who fail to give way to vehicles coming from behind or on the left side of the road can be fined Dh400 and 4 black points. Motorists wishing to overtake on the expressway cannot tailgate. In this law, if you do not keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front, you can be fined 400 dirhams.
