UAE Residents Can Get Emirates ID Replaced Within 24 Hours

UAE Residents Can Get Emirates ID Replaced Within 24 Hours

All citizens and residents of the UAE are required to have an Emirates ID, which serves as a crucial identification card. Possessing this card allows individuals to utilize government services and efficiently navigate immigration checkpoints at airports by using smart gates.

Losing this document can be extremely stressful, but there is a solution called 'Fawri' that can provide a replacement within 24 hours. This service is offered by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security for an additional fee. Here are the essential details you should know:

The 'Fawri' service is offered to UAE and GCC nationals who are currently living in the UAE, regardless of their age. This service can be used to apply for the first-time issuance of Emirates ID cards, renew expired cards, or replace lost or damaged ones. However, if you are an expat who is not a GCC national, you can only use this service to replace your lost or damaged ID card.

If your Emirates ID card has been lost, stolen, or damaged, you should visit the nearest ICP Customer Happiness Centre. You will need to bring documents that prove your identity in order to report the incident and deactivate the card if it has been lost or stolen. If your card has been damaged, you should bring the old card with you.

Which papers do I need to bring to use the service?

For Emirati citizens, it's necessary to bring their valid passports and family book. GCC nationals must present a document that verifies their residency in the UAE. Expatriate residents must carry their original passport that has a valid residency permit stamped on it.

If the lost identification belongs to a child below 15 years of age, the parent must provide an original birth certificate of the child and a passport-sized photo with a white background.

    What is the process?

To replace a lost or damaged Emirates ID, there are two options: fill in an application form at any of ICA's Customer Happiness Centres, or download the UAE ICP app from iTunes or Google Play and request a replacement of the ID card. Then, pay the required fees. After submitting the application, ICP will send a text message regarding the application status and expected delivery date. If you choose the express service option, the ID card will be issued within 24 hours from the time of submitting the application. Once you receive notification that the card is available, contact Emirates Post to arrange for its delivery.

    How much does it cost?

To replace a lost or damaged Emirates ID, the fee is Dh300, plus an application fee of Dh70 if applying through a typing centre. If applying online through the eForm, the cost is Dh40. If you opt for the express service, an additional fee of Dh150 applies.
